Hydrangea, Monkey Grass, Patience graphic, & Storm Graphic, & a little bit of Lovely (Issue 83)
The best place to read about Hydrangea is the new website page here. I know I am going to refer to it time and again as I have created an easy to read, with important words bolded, listing of the different types of Hydrangea, including which ones are suited for our area here in Missouri, and whether they bloom on old or new wood so you can learn how to prune your variety, or purposefully know before you buy. You know, I saw the wrong types being sold in the stores here locally this year. I’m learning to trust the big box stores less and less.
I like garden analogies and I have been so busy this Spring in the garden and yard that I have not had time to think, and to share what I think. Here is what I am thinking about my Hydrangea, so I made a graphic.
As you can read on the website, I waited since 2019 for my hydrangea to bloom. Not only that, but all Winter and early Spring I spent much time covering and uncovering my Hydrangea to protect it from the cold, and repeating the same, just to finally see the blooms.
I do not care that there are only three or so blooms thus far. I am still super excited to see them. You did not endure the patience I endured so it may seem like just another bloom to you, but to me it is much more than that.
I not only learned greatly about the different varieties of Hydrangeas, but I learned more about me and the way God created me. Something beautiful begins with patience, not only with the flower, but within me.
Here is the new YouTube video. Thanks for watching.
It is REALLY storming here in Southeast Missouri today. Wow! All the flowing water around my house and the tornado damage in neighboring counties, and more. Just Wow! And more is expected to come today. So I made this graphic for us today. It’s what I am thinking today. Have I told you enough that I think too much?
There is also a new website page for Monkey Grass. Some flowers I no longer have in my yard, but I had them in my paper journal, so I am still studying about them and creating website pages. I found this photo I took of Monkey Grass that I made into a graphic. I found the graphic was used for the first page of my Reading Through the Bible Chronologically project. Hopefully I can get back to that project soon and add new pages.
I bought my neighbor an 8th grade graduation gift. The shopping bag itself made for great wrapping paper, so I cut it up and used it. As has been my tradition for quite a few years now, I like to walk in the garden, no matter what time of year, and snip some natural elements to put on top of the packages. It not only saves money, but is also so much more beautiful.
You may recognize the flowers from recent posts as Yarrow and Salvia. She was able to cut the flowers off and put them in a cup as a vase.
Well, I tried to get back to my regular type of posts by being creative, inspiration, and leaving you with something lovely. It’s been a long haul studying and learning and sharing about my flowers. I still have a lot more to do in the coming weeks, but hopefully I will have time to add a bit more to the posts I share as I did here. Hopefully, we can travel and camp soon too! I love to share those with you too.
Here’s to finding a little happy in your day,
Cheryl
