Wallflowers in the garden, hand flowers, nosegays, and tussie-mussies (Issue 60)
a little bit of bright happy in our yard today!
Click to the Wallflower website page to read all about it and see some other photos.
Welcome to all the new folks. I am pleasantly surprised each time someone new joins us and is interested in what I put out into the world. It is affirming. I hope you are finding affirmation in your day.
This is a brand new flower for me! I planted the seeds last year from an online order and I absolutely love them! Some of the seeds I purchased last year I did not like, but this one is a winner-winner!
This video is on YouTube. Both of my dogs sneak into the video, but Miss Tizzy sits with me for a while. I learned about hand flowers, nosegays, and tussie-mussies! Now if I can just remember the words I can use them again because they make me smile and bring me a bit of joy.
Also, learn about how Thomas Jefferson even grew this flower and gave his daughter a bundle of Wallflowers! So sweet! Read his letter to see what other flowers he ordered (link on the website).
Plus they smell so good! See, a winner-winner!
The garden is all torn up yet with the drainage pipe construction getting close to the patio. What a mess! I’ll be ready for this pipe to be done and for us to start on the other one that I hope will be less invasive to the garden area as most of it will go through the grass.
Let me know what you learned today about Wallflowers or teach me something I do not know. You can easily log into Substack to do so or just hit reply to the email as folks do that too.
I studied up how to use my camera for the eclipse yesterday and I played, only to find that I bought my filter well in advance only for it to fit my smaller lens and not the distance lens! Of course the stores have nothing. I feel so stupid. I bought some mylar as I think I can make a homemade do-it-yourself DYI filter, but we will see. That’s on my list of to-do’s for today.
SO many flowers are blooming and I have no time to study. Enjoying my project and being able to share it with you, so I got this! I’ll get it done!
Oh, and I got an email that a local weather person thinks we MAY have had our last frost! I’m happy about that!
Til next time,
Cheryl
P.S. Some things I’ve enjoyed on Substack.
shared this quote and has amazing bird photos. shared inspiration about line art and I enjoyed several of the links to YouTube videos. I got absorbed in watching them. It makes me want to get out a pen and paper. I also watched some more of Shantell Martin’s live performances. So unique.
I had no idea a tussie mussie was wrapped in moss.🙂
Those are some gorgeous flowers! And yay for the last of the frost. So glad you enjoyed the line inspiration - Shantell’s art is really inspiring, and so very accessible!
