I look at this photo from 2021 and I hope that my gardens get back to the glory they were that year. Totally revamping the garden beds is making this a somewhat difficult year, but then again so much opportunnity for play and creativity lies before me too.
I have, as the routine is these days, put all the information and photos about Dianthus on the website page. Anything on website pages is organized so you and I can find it again and it is there to stay. These newsletters may not stay around, so I hope you do not mind clicking over to read. Many people do not like that and want the info all in the newsletter post.
I am continuing to learn SO much about my flowers! I hope you are enjoying learning with me.
Here’s the YouTube video. Thanks for watching. My husband calls these flowers “candy” because they look like candy cane colors.
Here’s another photo from 2019 as I am highlighting a few of them that make me smile. I remember buying this metal arrow sign at a craft market. I set it here for a photo op and we hung it p. After a few years it completely rusted through and I was sad to see it go.
This was taken yesterday. The patch of dianthus is really small this year and not really in full bloom. I transplanted that Wild Sweet William to that spot from the front yard just this year and I like that they are blooming together. The Wild Sweet William in the front yard is waining, but the two new patches in the back yard must get more shade and are blooming later. I think this is a perfect two set-up to gift to myself for future years with these two blooming together.
I built this a few evenings ago. It took me a while to dig to insert those stone bricks! Ah! I am almost embarrassed at how it looks but actually I am very happy with it. The Lily of the Valley I shared the other day really needs containment as it spreads underground with runners. Plus they had to be moved to make way for drainage pipe #2, so instead of the stones being on top of the ground, I dug them deep so the runners could not escape. I love the flowers, but they are not a showstopper flower. I want to keep them small. I was going to move the front yard batch to the back, but my area turned out too small, so now I have to go with a Plan B in the front yard. I want to move those to make room for some zinnias as those are more showy and will be visible from the street.
Remember the Wallflower that I planted by seed last year and have never had before? I am STILL loving it and I cannot tell you how good this smells other than to say there are no words for it! It is smelling up the whole back part of the yard. You get anywhere close and it makes me turn my head. It has fallen over some and is not all standing tall anymore, but it is still lovely. I am going to have to get more of these seeds and plant it somewhere else. I am wondering how long it will bloom. We are at 20 days already.
My Clematis is absolutely gorgeous! It will be a featured flower here in the coming days. I just wanted to share with you a little bit more from the garden than the flower of the day!
Have a happy Friday and thanks again for your time to read and follow me. Your time is precious.
Cheryl
I love the clematis!
I have always loved dianthus; however so do the bunnies in my area! So after trying a few times, I gave up. I planted 4 plants of a flower that has really pretty blue blooms in the spring and only one has survived over the past 3 years due to bunny consumption. The one this year that is blooming is surrounded by weeds so I'm not pulling those weeds because apparently the weeds keep the rabbits away! lol.
